The future of news with iPad
Posted by admin on Thursday May 20, 2010 Under iPadWhat is quite surprising about the iPad’s evolution is that it never stops developing. First it was online internet with direct subscription, then it was the own book store and we can not overlook the great number of applications that are available out there. Though a lot of us might think that it is quite enough, there are a lot of people who are just hungry for more. The latest thing the iPad has come up with is news.
There have been speculations about a future collaboration with a news journal that can provide all users with online news by paying a monthly subscription. Though it is another proof that the iPad is evolving more and more, there have been different opinions about this subjects as a lot of people feel like the monthly fee is to high. The monthly subscription fee is actually larger than a regular online one is. This seems to bother a lot of people as this kind of chance would be quite benefic for the journal in talk. This is exactly why most people believe that a respectable journal would ask for a very small subscription fee.
The price can actually be a major factor that can decide of this idea will have great success or it will be just a failed attempt. Although consumers want to make the best out of their iPad they don’t want to have to pay a subscription for just about anything. The product is pretty expensive itself, plus, a lot of people spend more money on apps and accessories. There is also the internet direct connection that needs payment, so frankly, at one point when you decide to draw the line and you do the math for yourself you might get to the conclusion that the future is quite expensive.
Of course having the news with you wherever you go can be quite convenient for users as they again have it all in one package, but the question remains, how much people are willing to pay for this comfort. Does it really bother them to get a regular newspaper or just read the online subscription? What is the factor that will actually determine them to get a direct subscription on their iPad? The answer to this question is the price. A low price would not be a bother to anyone, but it would have to be lower than other options they might have. When a journal will understand that, they will probably have success with this project. From their point of view it would be quite smart to think it through as it might mean a total rebirth of the paper.
One must keep in mind that the iPad represents the future and it could also represent the future of news. The journal that will close the deal with Apple will be the one who will definitely enjoy success on the long run. Though the possibility actually included Wall Street Journal, nothing has been set so far and people are still waiting for the outcome of this project.
