Getting to Know iPhone Settings Better
Posted by admin on Friday May 1, 2009 Under Settings App, iPhone TipsAlthough we will discuss this later, you should know that the Settings tab of your iPhone is the most important and that it will help you greatly to be familiarized with it at the earliest. Settings is the place that allows you to control almost all of the crucial features of the phone – be it the wi-fi, proxy settings, tone/display settings – the list just goes on and on.
Okay, so you can see the icon that looks like a sprocket – tap on it to get into the Settings section. You will find that this leads you to several options involving myriad aspects – such as the wallpaper, the mode your phone is in, internet access, and so on. In fact, once you get the hang of the different settings, you can customize your phone to just fit in with your requirements.
For starters, let us tap on the Wi-fi icon. Here we see a list of networks, including the one we are connected to right now. You can see all of the other networks that are secured and required password authentication. Anyway, as of now, the wi-fi is set up properly and we are connected to this network right here.
What next – possibly we can see what can be done about sounds and ringtones. Let’s hit the sounds section. Here we can toggle the vibration mode for the phone – the moment it (vibration mode) is switched on, the phone vibrates once. The ringtones tab shows a scrolling list of all the ringtones on your phone – and you can go through them one-by-one and they will play out for you. Select the one you want to – let’s see, we can select the Doorbell one right here. Tapping on the sounds button again takes you back to the previous level of the menu.
See if you can set the brightness settings of the phone. Then, browse through the other areas in the Settings tab, and get to know the general layout of the place – what is possible and what is not. Knowing the Settings section of your iPhone is crucial to utilizing it to the full.
In fact, it is always a great idea to fool around with these settings as soon as you buy the phone. Do not be worried or intimidated – no setting is irreparable (unless you delete stuff!). Anyway, in the end, when you are done, tap on the menu button and you will be taken back to the main menu.
